Each year clubs and schools are invited by Raj Maru, Performance CDO, to nominate talented girls to District Development Centres.
In 2006 the Hampshire Cricket Board introduced pilot Under 11 District Development Centres for Girls in each of our 4 districts - New Forest, North Hants, South East and Winchester. As a result of providing 20 girls in each centre with specialist coaching, we were able to help establish two new girls sections at Hursley Park CC and Langley Manor CC, as well as supporting two existing clubs in Aldershot CC and Portsmouth Community CC
Following the success in 2006 and thanks to the generous support of Musco Lighting, installers of world class floodlights at the Rose Bowl, the programme was extended in 2007, to include Under 13s, as well as Under 11s. The main focus during the second year was to establish two additional new girls sections, at Portsmouth and Southsea CC and New Milton CC, as well as regenerating existing girls sections at Cove CC and Fair Oak CC.

In 2008 the programme has been extended further. HCB Community Coaches have worked in partnership with the previous years clubs, but also a further 4 clubs (listed below) to run Development Centres at under 10's, under 12's and under 14s, through January, February and March.
Now the coaching sessions have come to an end the girls have had the opportunity to put their skills into practice and have already competed in a hugely successful indoor festival at the Rose Bowl. During the summer they will get a further opportunity to play in an outdoor festival on the nursery ground at the Rose Bowl.
