Hampshire Disability pair Alex and Hugo Hammond are receiving specialist one-to-one coaching sessions from Hampshire Cricket opener Jimmy Adams and Hampshire Cricket coach Bobby Parks. The brothers, who attend Lord Wandsworth College play for Alton and Hook respectively and have both represented North Hampshire District from U10. Earlier this year they were admitted to the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme (HTAS) to aid their continued development as cricketers.

Alex (14) has played for the HCB Disability Squad for three years and Hugo (13) for the past two seasons helping the Hampshire team to the National final two years ago and the semi’s last year. In 2009, both boys played representative regional cricket at senior level competing in the ECB’s Super Four’s, Twenty20 competition at Loughborough. They were the two youngest players in the tournament but competed on a par with their opponents, Alex finished among the top run scorers recording a top score of 49, while Hugo took regular wickets and also kept wicket in one game.

HTAS is run by Sport Hampshire & Isle of Wight and provides financial support to a wide range of talented athletes; it also provides Sports Science advice and access to the 4SM Physiotherapy Scheme. The scheme has supported the boys to be the first participants in an HCB Elite Player Development Program for Disability Cricketers.
