HARTLEY WINTNEY vs HAMBLEDON
U11 COUNTY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - ALAN ROWE TROPHY
@ Rose Bowl
Tuesday 15th July 2008
Hartley Wintney 75-3 beat Hambledon 74-5 by 7 wickets

Hartley Wintney won a spirited final by 7 wickets at the Rose Bowl when two of the country’s oldest cricket clubs played off for the Alan Rowe Trophy, the U11 County Club Championship.
Having won the toss Hartley put Hambledon in to bat. Hambledon set about constructing a competitive total with Joseph Brown top scoring with a fine innings of 26 including an enormous six into the top row of seats in the Pavilion Stand. Some economical bowling and sharp fielding restricted the South East Champions to 74-5 and at the interval the game was in the balance.
In response Hartley’s opening pair of Chris Cooper (28*) and Matthew Thomas (20) quickly put their team in front of the run rate with an opening stand of 50. The start allowed Hartley’s remaining batsman to enter the arena with a little less pressure than they may previously have anticipated and they soon knocked off the remaining runs, finishing on 75-3 having used 15 of their allotted 20 overs.
Hartley Wintney’s Matthew Thomas was awarded the man of the match award for his all round performance (4o-1m-3r-2w and 20).
