AWARDS FOR ALL

Awards for All is a Lottery grants scheme aimed at local communities, awarding grants of between £500 and £10,000 in a simple and straightforward way. The scheme can fund projects that enable people to take part in the arts, sport, heritage and community activities, as well as projects promoting education, the environment and health in the local community.

Although grants are not normally awarded for capital projects, it does vary from region to region and as always is subject to the amount of money left in the pot at the time of your application. Portsmouth and Southsea CC were recently successful in securing £10,000 to support a new artificial practice area for their ground at St James Hospital.

LANDFILL COMMUNITIES FUND  (formerly Landfill Tax Credit Scheme)

Landfill Operators who have joined the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) can offset 6.8% of their tax liability to help improve the environment by awarding money to various projects.

Cricket Clubs will need to claim under Category D of the scheme, which aims to improve local parks and public amenities within a 10 mile radius of a landfill site run by an operator registered to the LCF. To check for the nearest registered landfill site to your club click here.Clubs can either apply direct to the Landfill Operators or through Distributive Environmental Bodies.

The 3 main Landfill Operators operators are:

BIFFA - www.biffaward.org

SITA - www.sitaenvtrust.org.uk

ONYX - www.onyxenvtrust.org

The BIFFA site allows you to enter the postal code of the cricket club to check if you are within the 10 mile radius.

The SITA site shows you the 3 sites in Hampshire and then shows the areas that fall within the 10 mile radius.

The ONYX site needs you to open the application form in the "applying for funding section", where you then are re-directed to the Environment Agency site - www.environment-agency.gov.uk

If you want to check other operators in Hampshire, use the "what's in my backyard" section of the environment agency site.

Distributive Environmental Bodies

It is also possible to apply for funding through Distributive Environmental Bodies (DEB). These bodies act on behalf of landfill operators registered under the scheme. Waste Management Research Limited (WMRL) for example acts on behalf of Cleansing Services who have a site at Hale (SP5 2PU) and in the past supported Nomansland CC on a pavilion improvement project. Any club within 10 miles of the Hale landfill should speak with Michael Jones at WMRL to discuss any proposed project – 02380 283226. The LTCS website www.ltcs.org.uk will give you a list of DEBs and other useful information.

THE FOOTBALL FOUNDATION

Cricket clubs can benefit can benefit from this source of funding where the ground is shared with a football club or is part of a multi sports club.
