Why?
ClubMark is a Sport England accreditation scheme which supports the development and recognition of cricket clubs that are safe, effective and child-friendly.
Who?
Accreditation is aimed specifically at cricket clubs across Hampshire running junior sections.
How?
Firstly establish who will be the club’s ClubMark contact and then form a sub committee. This could comprise the Club Welfare Officer, the Junior Co-ordinator, a representative from the Management Committee and the ClubMark contact.
You then need to contact your Cricket Development Officer- Greig Stewart (New Forest & South East) or Mike Pollard (Wnchester & North) in order to register your club.
Your registration will then go to ECB who will provide your ClubMark pack - this is normally sent to the Development Office who will contact the club and arrange a meeting to discuss the Clubmark Process.
Throughout the process you should refer to the ECB Clubmark Website and communicate regularly with the relevant Cricket Development Officer.
The process can be time-consuming but achievable if the work is shared around and co-ordinated by the lead contact. To date 45 clubs have achieved accreditation. Of these, 10 clubs have been re-accredited after three years.
Benefits
Accreditation will verify that the club has a safe and structured system for committed volunteers working with children and young people in cricket clubs.
Endorsements from HCB will depend on whether your club is ClubMark accredited. It is also expected that in time most funding streams will be linked to accreditation.
